About the firm
Four people, about ninety clients, and no ambition to have three hundred.
We took the view early on that a practice this size can either grow or answer the telephone, and we chose the telephone.
Fenmark was set up in 2014 by two people who had spent long enough in larger firms to know what they did not want to repeat: work billed by the hour, questions that cost money to ask, and a partner you meet once a year.
Every engagement is quoted as a fixed fee before any work starts. If the job turns out to be larger than we thought, that is our estimate that was wrong, not your invoice that goes up. The only thing that changes the fee mid-year is you changing what you asked for, and we will say so before it happens.
We act mostly for owner-managed limited companies turning over between £100k and £3m, sole traders who have outgrown a spreadsheet, and a small number of landlords. We do not act for anyone we cannot get to within a day.
Ninety clients is roughly our ceiling. When we reach it we will either stop taking work on or hire, and hiring is the harder of the two, so expect us to stop.

Who you deal with
You will have one of these four, and it will be the same one next year.
Hana Ridout
Founding partner
Qualified in 2006 and spent eight years in audit before deciding she would rather do the accounts than check them. Handles the limited companies.
Peter Casswell
Partner
Joined in 2016. Deals with personal tax, landlords, and anything involving a letter that has arrived unexpectedly.
Marguerite Sowa
Bookkeeping and payroll
Runs the monthly work for about forty clients. If your payroll is right, it is because of her.
Danny Oyelaran
Accounts
Prepares most of what the partners sign. Two years in and asks better questions than either of them did at that stage.
